Album Notes

Totara. They play an ecclectic style of rock that is mixed with everything from jazz to classical, to latin, to electronic, to experimental, to blues... you get the picture. It is music that is different but so familiar, contemplative yet simple, turbulent and mellow. Vocals and keys by LeAnne, impressive guitar solos by Adam Keller, and the solid groove backbone of Matt Jung on bass and Jacob Frautschi on drums make up this fine ensemble.

But what is a totara?

It is a tree. Found in New Zealand. It stands for Respect, and can be found in many aboriginal legends as well as in the history books as a focal point in modern environmental plights. The name emphasizes the bands' belief in having respect for nature in a time of concrete and cars.

Totara has been playing at various clubs around Los Angeles including the Whisky A-Go-Go, The Blue Cafe, Room 5, Club Good Hurt, M-Bar, Hogue Barmichaels, and Ground Zero Coffeehouse. So sit back, relax and have a listen to music that is rich in melody, lyric, harmony and rhythm... peace.
