The Toucans, the first steel drum band to originate in the Tropical Northwest, are a dynamic 4-piece group featuring all-acoustic steel drums and a drum set. Playing Caribbean calypso music, Jamaican reggae and popular favorites, the group has performed for tens of thousands of happy music fans in Seattle and throughout the Northwest. The Toucans’ motto: “Small Size, Big Sound!”

This companion volume to the acclaimed 1998 release of “Steel Drums Old & New” features songs by Harry Belafonte, The Mighty Sparrow, David Rudder, Luiz Bonfa and many, many more. Beginning with tunes from the early days of steel band in Trinidad, the Toucans invite you to travel through the musical islands of the Caribbean. Recorded in some of the finest Seattle studios, “Steel Drums Old & New, Volume 2” captures the nuances of the Toucans’ steel drums like never before.
