Tower Groove Records, an eclectic collective of musicians and artists dedicated to showcasing the breadth and quality of Saint Louis music and culture, is proud to present "Tower Groove Records Volume 1." This double-LP compilation is a snapshot of a portion of what is currently happening at "street-level" in Saint Louis music.
Unlike traditional recording labels, Tower Groove Records was designed by and for musicians in order to support each others' efforts as well as their own. This project is the end result of the hard work of dozens of people, bands, small businesses, and other members of the community. A volunteer organized and run fundraising carnival and showcase raised the money to release "Tower Groove Records Volume 1."
The variety of musical styles represented on the album reflects the diversity of influences in Saint Louis music, a nod to the city's long and deep musical history. From bar-punk to stripped-down folk to experimental improv, from no-bullshit country to space rock, this record covers a lot of musical ground while maintaining high quality standards throughout. Saint Louis' alternative newsweekly "The Riverfront Times" nominated 13 Tower Groove Records-affiliated bands across 9 categories in the 2012 "Best of Saint Louis" music poll.
