Album Notes

Tao Porchon-Lynch-"Nature is My Encyclopedia"

All the different aspects of Tao's long career as an actress, dancer, writer, and film producer have created a unified blend which permeates the peace she has attained over the years as a yoga student, instructor and master yogini. Ever seeking, she reaches deep inside to reveal the priceless gem which opens up the vistas to integrate the sacred science of body, mind, and spirtual powers from within, into a realm of living.
She has drawn from the lineage of her gurus and masters-
Aurobindo, Ramakrishna, Swami Prabhavannda, Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, BKS Iyengar, Donna Holleman, Rodney Yee and David Swenson, as well as the the great yogini Mataji Indra Devi-to enable her to discover the different facets of Yoga, to experience the cosmic consciousness that adds dimensions to the gift of life, the Tao within.

John Guth-Music Composition and Recording

Guitarist/Composer John Guth has toured and/or recorded with many well known musicians including Bob Gibson, Tom Paxton, Mimi Farina, Susanne Vega, Peter Allen, Judy Collins, Red Grammer, composer Galt MacDermot, and the Paul Winter Consort with whom he wrote lyrics for 2 songs on Common Ground. He was onstage guitarist for the entire run of Big River on Broadway. His music is on the Grammy winning audio book production of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as well as the other Harry Potter audio books.
Currently John's main activities revolve around his recording studio in Valley Cottage, NY. His compositions-ranging from jazz to New Age and beyond into the ethereal creation of music for this relaxation CD-reveal the depth of character of a gifted artist.
He has been a student of Yoga for 12 years, the last 7 including studies with Tao. "For this cd, Tao's voice was recorded first, and the music humbly flows from that inspiration." For more about Tao and John and current news, classes and performances see www.johnguthmusic.com

The Hang

In the music for the 2 relaxations the instrument John plays which has a sound like a soft steel drum is the "Hang" ("h-ahh-ng") Hang means hand in the Bernese language. It has two hemispheres in steel fixed together, one tuned to a scale-notes and percussion to play with the hands. Find it at www.hang.ch and www.musicinthemoment.com
