Album Notes

The Traipsers are one of Queensland’s most popular 50s 60s style rockabilly band. Their live show includes music from Elvis, Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran. Comments from the crowd have been such as ‘Mickey sounds as good as any Elvis impersonator we’ve heard before’, ‘Mickey is as good as The Buddy Holly Story and his guitar is spot on with his rhythm and lead in the songs’, ‘Mickey’s Eddie Cochran’s songs brings us back to the days of true entertainment and is fantastic the way he puts the show together’ The Traipsers also perform various one or two songs from well known artists such as Gene Vincent, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Stray Cats, Go Cat Go plus more.

Recently the band has included in their show the song from Eddie Sulik ‘Make You Mine’, which was the last pilot song he recorded before his tragic car accident. His son Eddie Sulik Jr found the tape 34 years later, so brittle from time, had it re-mastered into a full song. Eddie Sulik was inducted into The Traditional Rockabilly Hall of Fame on 26 Januray 2000, The Traipsers play this song with the double bass slappin’ with a fantastic back beat. Mickey includes his lead break that he created with his pedal steel instrumental of the song that can be heard on his official web site and Eddie Sulik’s official myspace page.

The Traipsers have also put in some rockabilly jump blues, with songs such as Help Me by Sony Boy Williamson and Kiddio by The Paladins. The crowd goes wild with this style of music and some punters have said that Mickey sounds a bit like Stevie Ray Vaughan. The Traipsers are a must see if you love your traditional rockabilly.

The Traipsers formed in April 2007 as a three piece rockabilly band. Their style has developed over the last 12 months as each member has written their own songs. The band has now recorded songs written over 20 years ago by Mickey Riff, and a track from each member of the band.

Mickey Riff - Guitar & Vocals
Formed the band Mickey Riff and the Houndogs in the mid 80s. Played in bands called The Saddletramps (guitar and pedal steel), The Gordon Brothers, The Heartbreakers (rockabilly) and Compact Country (pedal steel). Mickey Riff still performs at many pubs, clubs and private functions.

Tobyone (Daddio) - Giant Fiddle
Recently sighted playing weddings, barmitzvahs and garage house bands, now he's been dragged from the muddy swamps of Moreton Bay to belt an oversize novelty violin for THE TRAIPSERS.

Ross E Rocka - Drums
Ross has all the techniques of percussion that make the snare drum go BANG ! as well as a variety of grooves that have to be seen to be believed.
