Album Notes

transMission is an ethos that The Salvation Army in the southeastern part of the Unites States has been using to encourage all who have ears to hear to transform their worship into mission. Phil Laeger and Marty Mikles have developed this over the last few years and continue to model worship leading wherever they are given an opportunity.

REVIEWS

This is without a doubt, the best transMission album to date!
author: Chris Johnson
“Unfailing Love follows two phenomenal solo projects from the TransMission song writers. The first being “Running in Circles” by Marty Mikles, and the other being “Pride & Glory, Truth & Beauty” by Phil Laeger, both of which had tremendous underground support, and even some air time on XM radio, as well as stations in the southwest portions of America. But would the same songwriting skills and musical perfection show up when Marty and Phil teamed up to write the new album? The answer: Yes. Continuing the tradition of mixing original worship tunes with traditional hymns, TransMission kicks off the album with a challenge to the modern day church with the song ‘Revolution’. The song sings out an anthem, calling all believers to gather together and truly ‘live out the song, and be a revolution’. Shortly thereafter, the title track ‘Unfailing Love’ is played with passion and prestige, and is definitely a track that sticks out on the album. The strongest tracks on Unfailing Love are actually found at the end of the album – the strongest of which being ‘How Marvelous’, a rearrangement of a hymn that is written to perfection. Mikles voice soars over an ‘arena-rock’ type chord progression, and the new melody that he sings the familiar words to is as catchy, if not more so, than it’s original melody line. Also found at the tail end of the album are the songs ‘Speak Your Name’ and ‘Trust and Obey’, both of which are sure to be imitated and played by worship teams all across the southern territory. For the first time, the group TransMission has decided to take on different styles of musical worship, and they get downright soulful with it. With the songs ‘Shine Down’ and ‘Thank You Lord’, the band reaches out to a whole different genre, and they pull it off beautifully. Complete with brass and a special guest vocalist, the band hits the bull’s eye with what they have set out to accomplish with these tracks. Overall, the album is a very strong album that will give any listener something to cling to. This is without a doubt, the best TransMission album that the group has put out to date, and is sure to become a favorite, just as the previous albums have become a favorite with the youth of the Southern Territory.”
