Album Notes

Nine tracks of exploration into the vast, scary, uncharted regions of space, be it creative space or literal space.

Songwriters Terri Moeller and Paul Austin set out to make a record for headphones, rather than be concerned about how to reproduce it live. Brighter and more lush than their prior releases, "Cosmonautical" is - according to Terri - tied together by themes of "discovery, electricity, disappointment, cults, sex, bad eyesight and poor decision-making." Despite the weighty topics, the songs are more pop-oriented than past work.

Recorded by Graig Markel (Head Like A Kite, Nada Surf, Animals at Night), and mixed by Tucker Martine (Decemberists, Laura Veirs, Jesse Sykes) and Matt Brown (Trespassers William, Lucinda Williams, Disinterested).

Moeller handles the drums as well as the lead vocals; Austin is joined by frequent collaborator Jon Hyde on guitar and pedal steel and Graig Markel on mellotron, rhodes piano and an assortment of "weird old analog stuff".

Special guests include Chris Eckman and Michael Wells of the Walkabouts, and Daniel G. Harmann.

This CD comes in a nice deep blue Digipak.
