Album Notes

The Trap are Mirl Wythe and Phil Oiler, two songwriters who happen to live in Colorado and California, respectively. Mirl writes lyrics and they both send demos back and forth to complete the music and the arrangements. Phil records the finished product at his home in California. Their style, though modern, does hearken back a bit to those bygone days when melodic pop rock filled the air waves -- and the air, for that matter. Fall Into The Trap!

Great Classic Rock Sound!!
author: R. Hayes
If you like the the great styles of music in the 60's and 70's this is a must buy! The lyrics have a sense of nostalgia and yet curiously hit a modern cord as well.I can envison a former hippie or a unemployed dot com er sitting at a bar drinking like in the song "Dead Enders". There is also a Bob Dylan feel to the song "Milk and Honey". These are just two of the different feels this truly remarkable album give to you. There really isn't a sub-standard song on the disc! There are some great harmonies and stand alone vocals. If you are an old or young rocker this is a must add to your collection!!

Classic Rock with a difference
author: Bryan Anthony
Sometimes you discover an album (or a band) you know you're gonna like while searching for 'something else'. Such was the case with "THE TRAP", a San Fancisco band I stumbled on by accident, whille looking for something a bit more 'Beatleish'. I just had to pause for a listen to one of the songs: 'Mind Storm'. Next thing you know, I was listening to everything and, before you know it, forgot what I was surfing for in the first place. Here is an intriguing sound: classic rock with a difference, a familiar sound with a brand new twist that brings it right up to date while leaving nothing out that you'd expect to find in the genre. The first song, Mind Storm, can be heard, right here, in the UNCAGED ARTIST section (second song). This is a boisterous rocker that starts off with a neat Pink Floydish up and down the scale bassline with shades of Hollies meet the Byrds meet...ah, you get the picture. Then comes THE VOID, a slower rocker, but just as potent. This band does just that, deliver a potent vibrant sound that will grab your ear immediately! My personal favorites are 'Mind Storm', 'The Void' and 'Dead Enders', but, hey, there's not a bad song in the collection. The album is lively, fun to listen to, beginning to end. Great vocals (and there are harmonies too, good ones). Stunning guitar work throughout, nothing overdone. Leads are sublte, masterfully put together. A biting sound: brilliant, crisp and airy, with enough of an edge to keep even the most discriminating rocker satisfied. Here is an album well worth adding to your collection and a band well worth watching for.
