Album Notes

There is no genre attached with this music. He's one of those individuals you have a tough time explaining. Hidden in the mountains of Georgia alone with the woods, he creates whatever his mind allows. Music with heavy elements of classic country (Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard) mixed with the modern sounds of artists like Beck, Elliott Smith and Ween. Throw in the wonderful harmonies of Brian Wilson, the guitar playing of Neil Young and the experimentation of the Beatles and you may....just may.....be along the right path deep into the woods towards Trappers Cabin! Listen for the music, smell the smoke and begin to smile!

This latest album, "For My Friends", is the story of the animal nation. Loosely based on the "Animal Farm", by George Orwell, "For My Friends" details the rise of the animal nation. Through chapters 1 through 4 (1: The Beginning, 2: The Revolution, 3: The War, 4: The End) you hear the animal progression and the battles they fight to rise up in the eye of the human!

Lively, melodic, folky (psycafolkadelic?), satiristic... the imagery could be from a Keruoac novel. Good stuff Trappers!

This CD is AWESOME. It has become a favorite of mine. LOVE "Yellow Lama" the best, but all tracks are above average.

4 My Friends, 4 legs, 4 stars

Dr. Doolittle channels Neil Young & Pink Floyd simultaneously, with a smattering of mash up. Odd, mod and folksy. Equally unimportant, I'd call this a new sub-genre: Folk Naive. Sounds the way Art Naive or Art Primitif looks. But you can't go wrong picking this one up. The music has wonderful melodies, harmonies, wit, humor, playfulness and philosophy. Can you tell I like it? Don't show me no pictures--I'm listening!!!

Trappers Cabin took a bold step forward on his second effort. While it's just as beautiful, melodically and texturally, as Blue Sky Black Bear...it's much more experimental, clever and conceptual. A complete escape from reality while remaining rootsy,...even earthy!! It's a Fabulous album.
