Album Notes

Traveler - What kind of music is it?

We've always thought that writing about music is like dancing about architecture. Listen to the track samples and think, is it "Eclectic Acoustic"? "Americana"? "Progressive Folk"? The five musicians who make up Traveler have roots in folk, blues, jazz, swing, rock & roll, bluegrass and Celtic music. Traveler's second CD, Old Red Shoes, adds more ingredients to the mix: Keyboards and violin, European and Mexican folktales, Cuban rhythms. More originals, more darkness (for dark times), more politics. Songs about war and remembrance, joy and mystery, hope and regret.

So what label do you put on it? The label doesn't matter - the sound and the spirit is what counts. Traveler's music works on many levels but at its base it's a distillation of our experiences - it's fun, thoughtful, and occasionally rambunctious. Discover what Traveler's journey so far sounds like.

Old Red Shoes was recorded and mixed in the summer/fall of 2005 at Sugar Hill Studios.

As much as I loved Cross the River, Old Red shoes is even better. More powerful musically with the same uncanny ability to both you think, laugh, and hope.
