Album Notes

Nebraska based singer/songwriter Travis Koester has found his second wind. After a great deal of success as the front man with former blues/rockabilly group Travis & The Flamekats, who won the recording of the year with their fan voted album Zoo Bar Blues held by Nebraska based music station KZUM. They also won a local battle of the bands at the world famous Zoo Bar in Lincoln. During the bands busy run they had the honor to share the stage with blues legends such as Magic Slim and Duke Robillard. After years of extensive gigs and festival appearances Travis needed a well deserved break from it all.

Koester took some time to restore his musical taste and has returned to the stage as an accomplished solo artist. With the release of his first debut solo album 'Second Wind' he has found a refreshing spirit in his songwriting. The new album has 12 heartfelt original songs. "There is warmth & sentimentality to Travis Koester's song writing..." says Bluesbunny Review.

If you have to label the style of Travis Koester, it's not real easy as all the influences in his musical endeavors definitely play a part of his new found passion in songwriting. A Bluesbunny Review best describes his music by stating "There is no doubting the conviction in Travis Koester's music and it certainly would not be classed as cute pop music." The acoustic / harmonica based music of Koester is best described as a rock, folk, blues mixture that will simply leave you wanting more.

"The song, Only One For Me, was fantastic. Similar in fashion to Chris Isaak, when Chris Isaak was at the top of his form - this is a highly repeatable song, which makes you feel good every time you listen. Now heard on BBS Radio, Travis is already a hit with listeners." Says
Douglas Newsom CEO, BBS Network, Inc. (BBS Radio)

Sounds great. I love all the songs, but this is my favorite. I cant wait till his ramblin mind brings him to our part of the country. I look forward to hearing more in the near future. Keep up the good work. This is what you were called to do.

This is a nice easy listening cd. Travis did a nice job of mixing it all together for some great tunes. This cd has a great mix of acoustic music that makes for nice casual listening.

Second Wind Indeed

I am a huge fan of the work Travis did with the FlameKats. Although I got ahold of their music after they'd quit playing in public I really enjoyed the variety and pure, raw nature of their music. This album "Second Wind" is not really a continuation of Travis' work with the FlameKats, it is rather another level of song writing and musicality that just leaves me thinking of people like Chris Isaak, CSNY and Arlo Guthrie, yet has an unmistakable identity of its own. January 12th will find me and my wife in Lincoln enjoying a musician we missed the first time around.
