Travis Moore
Bio
From an early age, Travis Moore was surrounded by a variety of musical
influences. Four uncles on his mother's side of the family performed as a
quartet at local venues, and on radio stations in the Indianapolis area.
Travis' mother played ukulele, his sister was a featured vocalist in her
high school choir, and his dad is a singer and guitar player who, Travis
says, would perform at any venue that would let him in the door.
By age nine, Travis was singing along with his dad, and he received his
first guitar when he was twelve. By practicing for up to two hours every
day, Travis soon became an accomplished picker. During high school, he began
writing songs and performing with the high school choir. Weekends, Travis
hung out at the Little Nashville Opry, working first in the concession
stand, then later, as his obvious talent and interest in the business grew,
running lights and mixing sound. It was a wonderful experience for young
Travis who also ran production and performed at the Illinois Country Opry.
High school behind him, Travis began performing in clubs in and around
Indianapolis, honing his talents on an ever growing audience. He eventually
hooked up with a local rock band as lead singer and guitar player, and spent
seven years improving his songwriting, picking, and vocal performance. As
much as he appreciated the opportunities that came his way in rock, his
heart was still in country music. He made the decision to turn back to his
roots.
Travis spent the next few years tearing his songs apart and putting them
back together, ever learning and growing as a writer, and searching for a
specific direction for his talents and career. One song in particular began
haunting him. It was written from the depths of his soul and was the tune
that finally generated some interest from Nashville's music community. The
tune, 16th Avenue Rain, depicts his long-time search for recognition from
Music Row, and can be found on his debut CD, the self-titled Travis Moore.
Today, Travis' album is receiving airplay in the UK and is making the rounds
of the powers-that-be at Nashville's major record labels. Travis and his
newly formed management team remain hopeful that a label will soon bring
Travis' talents to a bigger audience. But for now, Travis will continue to
write and perform. It's in his heart. It's in his blood. It's a part of his
soul.
