The Treats are a dynamic rock & roll trio who formed in 2000, shortly after brothers/songwriters Andrew and Don Isham moved next door to bass player Tim Payne. After enduring several weeks of his new neighbors' late night bassless jams, Tim had heard enough. So one night he staggered over next-door, bass in hand, and the Treats were born.
The Treats sound is driven by Andrew's vocal melodies and raw guitar combined with the limber rhythm swing of drummer Don and bassist Tim. The Madison, WI trio's music draws heavily from traditional rock & roll and pop, as well as incorporating elements of hard rock, blues, punk, and psychedelia. The result is an excitingly diverse sound with songs ranging anywhere from brash and swaggering rockers and high-octane blues numbers to wistful ballads and dreamy pop tunes.

these kids are the real deal

I accidentally saw the Treats opening for another band and after about two and a half songs I went over and bought the cd. After I drove home I actually sat in my driveway for about 20 minutes listening to this cd and two weeks later it hasn't left the player. It grabs hold of you in a way that few discs do, surprising you and making you smile more with each track. Songwriting this good is a rarity in unsigned bands and in fact among too many bands that have "made it." I recommend catching one of their shows and picking up the disk there, but if you are not in the Madison, Wis area order it right here and now. But don't buy it because you should support hard working, hard rocking bands like this, buy it because you will play it over and over and over.

A diverse, energy-filled, rock and roll CD!
author: Jason B.
If you like a rock and roll CD that covers all the bases, then Paint Your Blood is CD you should buy! The flow of the CD moves from track to track - even though there is such a vast range in styles of the songs on the CD. From the edgy blues track of Sleepwalker, to the soft flow of Bliss, to the grandiose rock finale track of Swimming with Sharks, this cd keeps the listener engaged, excited, and impressed with the ability the Treats have in pulling off the difficult work of multitasking a rock and roll record. This CD should turn some heads and make some fans in the process.

It sounds so simple when it's done right. But then, why do so few do it right?

Saw these guys live last May. It was shortly before Paint Your Blood was released. They were opening for a local headliner and, in my opinion, completely rolled their kind hosts with a ferocious vicious set of crude punk garage metal Stones rock. The lead guy, Don, has major charisma (and huge forearms as I recall). I was astounded by their hooks and their energy and tone. I bought an ep they were selling and listened to it the next day. The ep was not good and I assumed I had some kind of contact high the night before, giving the set an undeserved sheen. After hearing Paint Your Blood it's clear that these were the songs they were playing that night, and they were recorded at least semi-professionally, unlike the thin and tepid ep. Paint Your Blood sounds like the album Nirvana would have recorded after Bleach if they had never signed with Geffen. It sounds so simple when it's done right, but then why do so few do it right?

Great listen all the way through!

The Treats have recorded an album with many different influences, one that rocks all the way through. These songs really stick with you - the hooks and the lyrics work very well together, resulting in a lot of energy and feeling being conveyed. Every song appeals to me in a different way. There are nuances everywhere that remind me of so much of my favorite music. I love that the songs are laden with varying textures and complexities, enough so every song has a unique sound, yet fits with the feel and the order of the album. Buy this one!
