Album Notes

In a Sushi restaurant in Felton, California vocalist/guitarist Kelli Hanson overheard drummer Mark Quinn discussing his unsuccessful quest to meet a challenging and talented singer songwriter to team up with. Seizing the opportunity, Kelli introduced herself and the foundation of Tregenza was formed. Their musical chemistry was instant and undeniably promising. The duo began writing and within two months released their first EP, ZONA, on their label Bigger Than the Barn Records.

After performing many successful live shows throughout northern California but feeling limited in Felton, Tregenza relocated north to Seattle. Upon arrival they immediately began playing shows and building a reputation through showcasing their raw, original wall of sound. Soon came the addition of Skye Wait on Bass, the final piece of the puzzle had been found. Within six months of the completion of the lineup Tregenza recorded their first full-length album and continued performing regularly perfecting their blistering live set. The album was released on Bigger Than The Barn records in September 2003.

Together with powerful melodic vocals and tight rhythms Tregenza delivers a sound that is spontaneous with groove and hard-hitting certainty. Their sound has been described as post punk, progressive punk, power pop and as having the rock and roll qualities of late 60's heavy rock. The band is currently writing material for their next album, playing regional shows and touring regularly.

Awesome

This is just my opinion, but i think the drummer (Mark Quinn) could be the next Josh Freese. Not only does he understand music (unlike most drummers), but he knows how to play parts that are unique but not shouting "look at me i'm such a great drummer" like they could be. very smart drumming that helps make the songs what they are.

This has to be the most under rated band ever. Go to a show and get your ass rocked off. This band is the best band I've heard in Seattle since early Sunny Day Real-Estate. Really good shit.
