"Just wanted to add that this CD is nothing short of fabulous. I'll be
writing a full-fledged review for TPIN very soon, but Trent's CD has not
left my changer since I got it a month ago.
A touch of the Prestige Miles, the Verve Roy Eldridge, a smidgen of Sweets,
a dose of modernists Woody Shaw and Thad Jones, a nod to the great and
unheralded storyteller of the trumpet, Herb Pomeroy.
And overall, a taste of what it sounds like when Clark Terry becomes a
mentor for someone who can understand all the lessons of a lifetime of jazz
and project them with clarity through his own horn, his own spirit. A major
achievement for so young a player.
Stay tuned."

Awesome - a MUST have for blues and jazz lovers

Do you like Miles Davis? Do you like Freddie Hubbard? If you answered yes to either of those questions then you are going to LOVE Trent's playing. I purchased a copy of this for myself after having seen Trent play in a pickup combo in Portsmouth New Hampshire. He was just amazing live. He takes chances and swings like a monkey. After I heard the CD, I bought 3 more copies for my friends! All the musicians swing hard and are all notable in their own rights... Les Harris Jr. on drums is a killer player as is Ryan Parker on piano. The recording was done in Ryan's home, but the production values are quite high for a home recording. You can hear the difference an intimate setting can have on the musicians... Trent is loose and relaxed, taking chances and playing with great joy and fire throughout. He mixes styles as he pays tribute to each of the musicians who wrote the songs. He is one of the very few musicians who really "gets it" when it comes to blues, jazz and where the two intersect. His feel on each song is impeccable. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves trumpet, blues and jazz.

Get this CD ... you will not be disappointed

After listening to "most" CDs a couple times, my enthusiasm for the tunes drops...but not with Trent Austin's CD. The tone (dark, thick and rich) he gets out of his trumpet will keep me listening to his music for years to come. Since returning to the world of trumpet two years ago, I have not heard any trumpet sounds that could match the quality that Trent achieves. Trent's technical abilities are superb, but it is that magical tone quality in every song that is going to grab you. Get this CD ... you will not be disappointed.
