A killer slice of thoughtful and soulful country rock styled brilliance, beautifully arranged songs of superior craft that stand out and stand up in a big way. Calling to mind some of the work of heralded favourites Uncle Tupelo and off-shoots as well as lesser-known treasures such as The Schramms, Scud Mountain Boys, and Lucero but by no means derivative or even directly influenced by any of those. If you’re on board with that kind of musical depth, then this is a disc that’ll pull you in and keep you enthralled with its unmistakable charm and distinct passion. Trevor is clearly already deserving of international attention.

As of Yesterday

As of Yesterday is the second album from Ottawa musician Trevor Alguire.A surehanded album of country rock in the vein of Steve Earle and Son Volt released under the Mercury Pickup name. As of Yesterday continues in the roots rock vein of Narrowed Down, with a slightly laidback melancholy feel. Alguire has found just the right voice for his tales of world weary travellers and lonely wanderers.

peaceful country road and rock'n'roll in the city
author: Joey Racek
I picked up this CD recently and felt it's power from the get-go. Trevor's subtle acoustic guitar and heartfelt vocals captivate you and trigger memories of love, youth, and country landscapes rushing by. Peter's steam-engine drums add to the feeling of travelling through life. It has the peacefulness of driving on a country road and the excitement of a rockin' city. Simon's bass is complemented with the twang of Rob's lead guitar, which ties everything together into a mix of alt-country-rock. These songs will remind you we are all travellers on the road of life and that no matter what the road conditions we have to keep on truckin'.
