ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album is a soundtrack to a film titled “Return to PrairyErth” starring New York Times bestselling author William Least Heat-Moon. The music is largely drawn from the feeling I received when I took a trip to the barren yet beautiful land of the Flint Hills in Chase County, Kansas. It was such a remarkable experience to be there- seeing nothing but the duality of land and sky and to feel the silence amongst the wind. It reveals an openness that seems to guide us to look within ourselves, to hear it‘s own music and the unheard music inside of us.

As this is a unique experience for me and many who have connected to the Flint Hills we knew that the music also had to also be a unique and moving experience. We found the colors of Native American flute, didgeridoo, steel drums, Chapman Stick, viola and djembe coming together from such diverse origins gave the music a new story to tell. The quiet, meditative vastness Flint Hills may seem like another world to many of us in this age, but we hope that this music will bring that world a little closer to the listener. -Trevor Stewart
