Who is Tribute?

Tribute is a trio based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa devoted to the performance of Christmas music. We hope you enjoy the music of Tribute and the "beauty of the season."

Kathy Donnelly
Kathy Donnelly is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She generated quite a following in the area for many years as a singer and guitar player. Donnelly later went on to establish her own record label and recorded several local musicians, including Tribute member Carol Montag. She has gained valuable experience working in Boston and Los Angeles with many talented engineers, musicians, and producers, such as Henry Lewy and the Tower of Power horn section. In addition to performing on guitar and vocals for Tribute, Donnelly also utilized her previous recording experience by serving as co-producer for Tribute's debut CD, Silent Night.

Carol Montag
Born and raised in Ames, Iowa, Carol Montag currently resides in Cedar Rapids. Montag has toured as a singer/songwriter at various festivals, including the Winnepeg Folk Festival, numerous coffeehouses and colleges, at songwriter workshops, and has made appearances on many radio and television programs. She has recorded four albums entitled "Song for Carrie," "White," and "Swallows Return in the Spring," which was commissioned by Ballet Iowa and her most recent release, Marigolds. With guitar in hand, Montag has joined creative forces with Donnelly and Swanson to produce Tribute's unique sound.

Nina Swanson
Originally from Vinton, Iowa, Nina Swanson has lived in Cedar Rapids for many years. Swanson is best known as an actress and musician for her involvement in a variety of theatrical productions. She has performed as the lead actor in shows such as Peter Pan, Camelot, and many others. Swanson also performs monthly as a regular cast member of Liar's Holographic Theatre in Marion, Iowa. Nina is often in demand for her versatility as a performer and arranger. She is the primary arranger for much of Tribute's material. Her arrangements and performance on piano contribute greatly toward Tribute's wide appeal.
