This band is a perfect example of what can happen when one of the most tenacious supporters of Louisiana music pairs up with like-minds on the cemented plains of North Central Texas. To many DFW live music addicts, T-Richard & the Zydeco Stingrays represent the Pelican State of mind with a cosmopolitan sophistication mixed with the social camaraderie of a backyard barbeque. Their musical independence may shake the roots of traditional zydeco, but what would anyone expect from a band forced to traverse Big D on Central Expressway? Luckily, there\'s an exit ahead — a welcome departure from the well-worn Texas music directions. For this band, zydeco music infused with some big city style is all that is necessary to create a scene — and a new outlet for those lookin\' for a helluva good time!

Best New Zydeco Record
author: Leif
T-Rick and the gang made my favorite zydeco record this year. And the best song on the record (with all due respect to Swangin' Dick) isn't even zydeco: check Mo' Fiyah and light it up!

Just Buy the Damn Thing!

You won't regret it - lotsa fun to be had on this one! Not over-produced like so many first records you hear from bands today. The songwriting is solid, the drumming is awesome, vocals from the heart. Hiphopopotumus is whackadoo baby! That song alone is worth $14.99...

This Ain't Your Grampa's Zydeco
author: JMAC
T-Richard’s heart and soul are firmly in the bayou but he has been influenced by many other styles of music along the way and that comes across clearly on this great new CD. Fourteen tracks of original Zydeco with a sense of humor and stylistic twists and turns. The old school opening track Z’Echo establishes the band’s South Louisiana bone fides. These cats are no Pauvre ‘Tit Johnny come lately’s! Back It Up and Moss Bluff Waltz continue in the traditional style before Spank My Monkey (a crowd favorite at their live shows) adds a more contemporary rock influence. Mo’ Fiyah sprinkles a Caribbean jerk spice into the gumbo. Back To Louisiana has a down home Cajun vibe that will have your feet moving right into the more contemporary feel of Hiphopopotumus. There is not a bad cut! If you are fan of authentic Louisiana music but aren’t into tired repetition of tradition you will love this CD.
