Album Notes

"Mellow" is so named because of the smooth vocals and nuances, enhanced by George Melvin's incredible keyboard work. What started out as a lark - a recording of a few songs as a Christmas gift for her mother - is now "quite suitable background music for a dinner party."

Singing in a fundraiser concert with jazz keyboardist George Melvin reawakened Tricia's fondness for easy-listening jazz, which she thought she'd left behind ('way in the last century) with college jazz choir. Most of Tricia's performances since college have been cabaret-style concerts to raise funds for various organizations, and musical and comedy productions at a local theater.

BRIMMING WITH POTENTIAL...

Ms.Belan seems to be brimming with potential. But I deduct one star because the guy at the soundboard allowed the musicians -especially the guitarist- almost to cover up the rather delicate vocal qualities (or was it the tentativeness) of the singer. If she listened to the playbacks before approving the session(s) to disc, she was either (1)too polite to point out the bad engin- eering, (2)unaware that her voice was being up- staged by her combo, or (3)she just needs better management. In any event, I will look forward to hearing more of her on a future CD... and LESS of the others, who are there for background!

Great dinner party music!

I just loved the mix of songs on this CD -- everything from the 1940's to a Barry Manilow song that I had almost forgotten about from the 1980's. All are performed beautifully with the singer's easy-going, smooth voice and a well-balanced background. This CD is a perfect choice for a night by the fire with a good glass of wine!
