About Tricky Dilemma: Formed in the fall of 1999, Tricky Dilemma improvises-experimental-acoustic-electronica, created using a blend of acoustic and electronic instruments.
The goal of the band is to explore and mediate dilemmas caused by unspeakable human emotion, pain and desire through improvised music and the creation of sound spaces.
Although often performing as a trio, the group is a quartet featuring Val-Inc (Turntable, sampler and percussion), Marvin Sewell (Electric, lead, rhythm and Greek Bouzouki), Bruce Mack (Synthesizer, voice, Udu and other percussion), and Muata25 (Afrofractal guitar, feedback and rhythm).
The band's collective musical influences are broad, ranging from folk music of Western Africa and Haiti to Persian Sufi Music and the Rebetika music of Greece.
This caravan is not without the influence of artists such as 70's era Miles Davis, Brian Eno, Nusrat Fetah Ali Khan, Sun Ra and Taj Mahal to name a few...
Tricky Dilemma's debut CD "The Howling Necessity" was released in 2003 on TruGROID Records- the label of Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Chamber who Tricky Dilemma also toured with.
Tricky Dilemma is now in support of its recently (January 2008) released 2nd CD "John P. Parker: Viewed From 9 Dimensions" on its namesake label.
