Album Notes
Sometimes the impractical makes perfect sense…

From the very first tune and lyric they combined, Triflemore knew they were on to something that fit. Though choosing to start a collaboration with an entire ocean in the way, meant even small tasks would require extra effort. It also meant having to challenge any existing theories that having to be in the same room is a pre-requisite to good songwriting. And well, many have been shocked to discover that their first album, Words from Notes, a haunting intertwining of voice and guitar, was written and recorded without ever having met in person. The impractical was achieved by using technology to deliver back and forth the ideas of two souls from two very different places. Susan Rhea, from small-town America, and Owen Goudie from the Shetland Islands, found their inherent differences irrelevant to the ability to seamlessly blend their musical thoughts. The result is a contemplation of emotions that create themes which are relevant to us all in our own way. By searching for tunes and lyrics to enlighten their own hearts, they’ve happened upon a way to make a difference by creating songs to briefly open windows that let us peer in behind the joys and often lingering sorrows of a life. In their song Goudfield, the question is asked “What would you say if words would last?” Triflemore will continue to answer this with each new song that finds it’s way into their hearts. This is their life’s journey. And, you could say that as they continue to overcome the obstacles that the distance places before them, the impractical has become something they have learned to embrace because to them, nothing has ever made more sense…..

Beautiful folk CD with wonderful vocals and guitar
Triflemore blends the guitar and voice into one beautiful sound on their latest disc, “Words From Notes.” The talented duo is comprised of singer Susan Rhea, who hails from small-town America, and guitarist Owen Goudie from the Shetland Islands. Together, their collaborative talents combine to produce a touching CD, filled with throwback sounds of folk singers from the late 1960’s. Rhea’s voice is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell in all the best ways imaginable. Her voice is wonderful to hear and her eloquent tones can be heard on songs like “Goudfield” and “Perfect.” Not to go unnoticed, Goudie’s finger style guitar work is also exceptional in its own right. You can tell he has crafted his melodies around Rhea’s vocals and intertwines them so one does not overshadow the other. A highlight of his playing can be heard on “Signal.” “Words From Notes” is a perfect fit for any Joni Mitchell or Emmylou Harris fan and could very well be used to paint the soundtrack of all of our lives.

Highly Recommended
The first time I heard Triflemore I was blown away by the voice, at that time Triflemore was Susan Rhea… Words from Notes, showcases Susan's beautiful voice coupled with exemplary guitar work from Owen Goudie, this is now Triflemore… and it works.

This is an excellent CD, all original songs, all great, so much so that to pick a favourite is almost impossible .. if forced I would probably go for the soaring richness of Illuminate but as I say they are all great and as the CD basically consists of voice/s and guitar/s it is a very easy and relaxing listening experience… and very rewarding, to me at least.

Highly recommended!
