Album Notes

Trina Hamlin is known for her sizzling blues harmonica and her energy-packed singing and guitar work. Her pure voice and unspoiled powerful presence have gained the singer-songwriter from Minneapolis a steady national following since she began playing solo shows on the downtown New York City club scene.
Hamlin attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated with a degree in Professional Music. Afterwards, she moved to New York City and began performing and honing her songwriting skills. She was chosen as a "Most Wanted New Artist" at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and as an alumnus of the Newport Folk Festival, performed to a sold out crowd along with Ani DiFranco, Dar Williams and the Indigo Girls. She has shared stages with Ricki Lee Jones, John Hiatt, Duncan Sheik and Paula Cole and performed on The Late Show with Conan O' Brian with the "Suits" Her music has been heard in the CBS-TV movie "Friends at Last," starring Kathleen Turner as well as on the WB's "Dawson's Creek".
Hamlin has jokingly said that the blues were created in her native Minnesota. She's only kidding, of course - but nevertheless, there's "something in the water" there and Hamlin went and had herself a drink. Maybe that's why she's one heck of a soulful interpreter. These days, live and on record, Hamlin can be found accompanying herself on guitar, harmonica and piano, working her keen sense of intuition and surrounding herself with music. Hamlin's website is www.trinahamlin.com .

Excellent Live Performer
author: Jeremy Parks
I had the opportunity to see Trina Hamlin play at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta, and I must say that she is a very energetic and wonderful live performer. She plays the harmonica exceptionally well, and her voice resonates with vibrant texture and quality unlike most female vocalists. Every song she played was beautifully crafted, and I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for something a little different...Trina has an amazing combo of blues, folk, and rock, with spices of pop and soul....so go see her live and buy her cd!

A Lyricism that Lures You
author: Mark Damon Puckett
Trina Hamlin's newest album, Living on Love, has a lyricism that lures you inside her unaffected, beautifully-sung tunes. There is also an ebullience that lifts you, even when the songs are bluesy. Her harmonica playing alone would set her apart but her acoustic guitar is like honey here. Bonnie Raitt comes to mind when listening to the fantastic cover of You're No Good, but you can also hear Amy Ray from Indigo Girls and even Shawn Colvin at times. Too Beautiful, You Can't Remember and You Took My Heart sound wonderful and weave together seamlessly. In Lazy River, the last song, Hamlin's voice ascends to a blues fever, leaving you with just a good feeling. All these songs make you think a little too and yet not too much either. Simple complexity? Complex simplicity? Who cares? It's just damn good music with an upbeat folk edge, sung by an impressive performer with a striking, lovely voice.
