Now in my third year of music ministry to Catholic Hispanics in a less than large metropolitan city, I've noticed that most of the Christian music available to us is geared to the young, and consists of merengues, ballads, salsas, and pop styles. This is all well and good, since young people comprise the population in most desperate need of the salvation message. But what about middle aged or elderly Latinos who have undergone traumatic experiences? Or who find themselves homebound or in convalescent homes? Or who've lived their whole lives in sin or in cults like Santeria, and aren't attracted to today's popular musical styles? Here's a recording that not only ministers to these too often overlooked souls, but also offers youths in small to medium-sized Hispanic communities a wider exposure to the great variety of styles that enrich the music of their culture. This truly inspired collection gives a timeless message in a timeless musical style that should minister to all segments of the Latin population. May the Lord bless this work and all others produced by these artists.
