Album Notes

Trio de Swing's first release contains eleven standards and one original composition by pianist David Austin, all done with a fresh approach. The feel here is one of spontaneity, not simply a nostalgic look back. It features strong jazz playing and a feel of immediacy throughout. You'll find the groove infectious -- it swings like mad.

Trio de Swing consists of David Austin on piano, John Clark on bass and Bob Blankenship on drums, all veteran San Francisco Bay Area jazz musicians. Making this album was a complete pleasure and we think it shows in the music. Give it a listen...we think you'll enjoy listening to it as much as we did making it.

Crisp, clean, inventive piano trio jazz standards

I play this over and over and never get tired of it. David Austin's piano artistry is fresh, playful and wildly enjoyable breathing new life into some timeless standards. And yes I sing along. Bob Blankenship's solid jazz rhythms make this an evergreen.

There is nothing like the sense of well being a great rhythm section can produce when they are "in the pocket." Witness David Austin, John Clark and Bob Blankenship, on piano, bass and drums respectively, as they delve into the book of American jazz standards, serious witty and hot. You are in good hands with Trio de Swing!

What a great CD. They guys are so good and so balanced and tight with each other, they really set a new standard for smooth and swinging. From the cool latin treatment of Left my Heart in San Francisco, to the jumplike Phone Tag, your feet will be tapping all the time. You'll be looking for the lyrics to At Last so you can sing along and you'll want grab your sweetie and glide across the floor to Moon Glow.
