Album Notes

Formed in Nov 2003, Trioizm proved to be one of those strikingly wild chemistries that just happened, and no one could deny it. Although now defunct as of Fall 2005, the band brought together Dave Z Marsalek, drummer of Spizm /Doppler Shift / The Chicago Junglebop Syndicate , Felix Moreno - bassist/fx (Future Rock), & Joe Grez - tenor saxophonist/loops (The Yellowhouse/CJS). Trioizm is a powerhouse merger of some of the finest in the Chicago live experimental electroacoustic Jazz Breakbeat Jungle/dnb scene. Trioizm played at many of Chicago's great venues, and toured the East Coast in early Summer 05' before disbanding. It leaves behind this genre-starting album, "Jungle Bop", which has opened the door to various jazz derivatives within Chicago at events such as The Chicago Junglebop Workshop (Muse Cafe/Weeds), The Jazztronik Experiment, & The Electro-Acoustic Workshop.

To be imagined, with a sound like this in an indie/rock dominated city, Trioizm brings something fresh, urban, and different to Chicago. Since its inception, this sound has exploded on the Chicago scene like wildfire. Members of Trioizm had moved on to form a 2-piece version for several shows at the end of 2005, and Steps(74) with Brian Niebuhr-trumpet (doppler shift) & Matt Golombisky-bass/loops (qmr plus/grilly biggs) for various Workshop gigs. The Junglebop revolution has now evolved, incorporating more kindred adventurous souls. The Chicago Junglebop Syndicate formed in August 2006, bringing together electro-acoustic jazz players to further evolve the sounds of Jungle Bop.

Trioizm represents a bridge between jazz/improvisation, break-beat/jungle, and loungy down-tempo...like Bebop & Jungle fused. Trioizm recorded an EP demo in May 2004 with 2 originials (kabop & fizzure) and 1 remixed standard of Monk's "Bemsha Swing". Most recently, and right before the split Trioizm released this full-length "Jungle Bop" on Chicago's I.Z.M. Records to much local and national acclaim. Checkout "Slick James", "Transition", "Dark Square I & II" which are full improvisations, recorded in a Wicker Park practice spot in Spring 05' & renditions of Wes Montgomery's "4 on 6" and Coltrane's classic, "Naima". The originals "Sonic Boom", "Trip This", "Snap" are also worth listening to. The album is presented as a conceptual entity.

This is a Jungle revolution but now it's occuring organic, not solely programmed. Electo-Acoustic Hybridization, samples, tweeked mixing boards and mics, loop stations, integrating with live sax, dropbass, trapkit. Live modern jazz break beat jungle.
