notes

Described as "blending edgy guitars and great melodies with storytelling lyrics," Tripper continues to establish itself as one of the top independent bands in the modern rock scene.

The Detroit-based band got its start in April 1999 when Frank Buscemi (vocals/guitars/harmonica) and Steve Marvicsin (guitars/vocals) both appearing as solo/acoustic artists performed on the Gentle Friday stage at Central Michigan University. The two began performing together almost immediately, finding similar interests and direction. Ken Thomas (drums/ percussion/ vocals), Aaron Berch (keyboards/ vocals) and Rob Carr (bass/vocals) were later recruited to round out the lineup.

The band has performed on some of the Midwest's most historical and well-known venues, while developing a solid fan base.

Tripper's third album -Perfect Plot Line - was released in Sept. 2005. The five-song EP is a hard-hitting mix of energetic rock and solid melodies.

Perfect Plot Line follows up the highly successful Yesterday, Friday & Today released June 2002 with tracks from the album featured on commercial radio in Detroit (89X; 96.3 WDVD) three months before recording was completed. The record put Tripper on the map with radio programmers and industry folks. In addition, the CD's first track, "Clearly Mistaken" was featured on three compilations (Atlanta, GA; New York; and Melbourne, Australia).

Since that time, Tripper songs were downloaded more than 30,000 times, including several chartings on Radio Wazee and MP3.com. Tripper was also named one of the "best unsigned bands" on MP3.com.

The band has worked with several national acts including the Gin Blossoms, Seven Mary Three, Shurman, Greenwheel, Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers, Foghat, and Foreigner.

Press:
"The second release from the Detroit-based pop/rock quartet, Tripper, entitled "yesterday, friday & today", blends edgy guitars and great melodies with storytelling lyrics. From the word "go" muttered at the beginning of "Clearly Mistaken", the driving opening track to "One Summertime", the closing country-inspired number, the album never loses its grip on the listener. Yesterday, Friday & Today is passionate, driving and fun - and a great addition to any collection."

"Driving down and open road with the top down and the radio blaring. Who better to have on that radio than Tripper. Their music - a blend of energetic pop and acoustic rock - balances nicely between the melodic strummings of the Nadas and the hard-hitting southern sounds of Rooster."

- From waxdetroit.com

"Absolutely wonderful acoustic based pop rock. I promise you these guys are going to be huge with these hooks and rhythms."

  • 100% Pure Ear Candy served up Detroit Style
author: Jay - Guitarist of BLIND SHAME (Detroit area band)

I bought this CD a few months ago, and literally haven't stopped listening to it since I got it. Every song is great, and Tripper cleary have a grasp on their songwriting. So Believable, The Good Guy & Holiday are my favorites, but I the entire album is solid and these guys will give most major label bands a run for their money. Pick up this CD, you will not be dissappointed.

  • Amazing - powerful, angsty and very, very good!

I discovered this album by seeing tripper compared to the goo goo dolls...while 'yesterday, friday and today' does have a definite flavour of the dolls, tripper also have an energy all of their own. Nearly every track on this album stands out and is worthy of heaps of praise, but 'my angel', 'see you out there' and 'clearly mistaken' will have you jumping around and singing along. Listen to this album now!
