Album Notes

This two part (includes two discs) spoken-word CD of the “Little Mermaid” uses a new translation by Trond Woxen from the original Danish of H.C. Andersen’s classic tale. This is not the Disney version but the real story! It is a magical, timeless tale of true love, bravery, determination, selflessness, and transcendence which will delight both young and old. This dramatized version includes four powerful, but rarely heard, poems by H.C. Andersen set to music by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. The narrative is also enhanced by the music of Danish composers. Listen to the CD at home, or in the car, and be entranced and entertained!

Trond Woxen is the Narrator of the CD. He is an actor (SAG, AFTRA, Equity), writer, and translator of Scandinavian languages. His new translation and dramatization of the “Little Mermaid” is based solely on H.C. Andersen’s original text.

Cindy Nelson plays the Sea Witch in the story. Don’t be too scared! She is a multi-talented performer who sings, yodels and plays guitar. She also bewiches with her poetry at cowboy poetry events.

Kathleen Fagre plays piano on the CD. She is a lively performing songwriter, piano teacher and hammered dulcimerist, as well as a published composer of instrumental, choral and solo vocal music.
