Album Notes

Tropical Ensemble was formed in February/March of 1994 by several talented and ingenious panplayers and panlovers, some of whom are no longer with the group.

Unknowingly, we came together sharing two common goals...the love for our unique cultural heritage and the facination with Steeldrum music.

Although most Steeldrum players originate from the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago, membership in this group is by no means limited to its citizens.

Several of our members were born right here in the United States...their only link to the Steeldrum being their love for it.

This unique cooperation has given our group the opportunity to play a variety of music, from Rock and Blues to Jazz and Classics.

Of course, we do play Reggae, Soca and Calypso music also.

To maintain its quality sound, Tropical Ensemble imports all of its instruments from Trinidad & Tobago, a decision that we find much to our advantage.

As you listen to the different renditions of familiar selections, you must be prepared to accept the addictive sounds of Steeldrum music.

Tropical Ensemble takes the traditional sound of these instruments and fuses it with today's contemporary rhythms to give an unusually interesting and colorful blend...Discover Tropical Ensemble...Discover the Difference.
