REVIEWS

I have not listened to it yet, because I bought it for my husband for Christmas... However, WE LOVE troubled hubble, they have great music and they were great the show we saw live at the HOB in Chicago, so I have NO doubt this one will be equally as good as all the others.

This is a great one.

This cd is SO wonderful. It's generally slower music than the later ones but worth having. "Fishin" is one of my personal favorites. That song alone is worth every cent.

Broken Airplanes is a mellower, lower-fi Troubled Hubble. They've stayed solid since their debut, but this CD, listening to it as a fan of their later work, really establishes their origins. They're a bit folksier, but hell, it's still the Hubbles.

Sugar never sounded so good, with the possible exception of Copper Blue

This reviewer is sorry for the pun in the summary. In this reviewer's opinion, this album is an artistic step down from The Sun Beamed Off..., which in turn was an artistic step down from Slow Plant Entrance. And that's maybe the best move the band could make. What they lose in pseudo-Dino J-isms and pedal hopping, they more than make up for with immediacy, energy and listenability on their latest step towards a perfect shimmering rockit pop sound. It's not a masterpiece of the typical variety, but it's a colorful painting you'll hang in a more prominent location than your Van Gogh prints. Eminently rollicking, eminemtly danceable and eminemtly fun. I'm not quite sure about "Instamatic," though. I like my power chords with a bit more chunk, and it seems to be the one song of the bunch that lacks the usual melodic punch, either from the lead guitar or the vocals. As always, the rhythm section rocks.
