The Afro-pop vibrancy of Big Round World sets the tone for the thoughtfully happy music, but the CD takes unexpected forays into a wide rage of genres from, Cool Jazz to Rock and Bluegrass. Several of the tunes on Big Round World began in Trout’s frequent songwriting workshops with children. GRAMMY nominated.

Album Notes

Trout Fishing in America is the four-time Grammy nominated duo of guitarist Ezra Idlet and bassist Keith Grimwood. Their music appeals to audiences across the generations, making theirs truly “family music.” Even the songs written for children will amaze grown-up ears with their universal themes and sophisticated musicianship. As the New York Times noted, “They embody a kind of goofball gestalt at odds with the sugary sweet format of so much other music for the younger crowd.” NOW Toronto says, “Not since Woody Guthrie’s ‘Songs to Grow On’ has kids’ music been this good.” Performing Songwriter magazine selected Trout as one of the top 100 most influential independent artists in the past 15 years.
