"Troy Dillinger's high-concept Dirty and Hairy Film Festival...made local video viable once more" --- Austin Chronicle
"Not many musicians, even ones that have been on the scene for 20 years, have the gumption, panache and out-and-out balls to collect the artistic capital required to pull off such a Herculean effort. The driven Dillinger obviously didn't hear that before he started on this ambitious project"
---Daily Texan
Inspired by 2 near-death experiences and the collected works of Filmmaker Spike Jonze, musician Troy Dillinger builds a concept into a proving ground for local filmmakers while simultaneously joining local film, music, and small business communities together.
The now-defunct Austin Music Network showed that the project could benefit by asking small Austin businesses to trade goods and services for advertising in the shorts. The Network then came aboard as a partner.
In just 6 months, with the help of a small production team, 10 independent filmmakers (and their crews), and 40 Austin businesses, Dillinger has become a pioneer: he made world-class art that originated in the community and returns benefits to the community in a never-seen combination of cooperation and commerce. More than short films, more than just music videos, more than entertaining, more than just a self-promotion piece; the "Dirty & Hairy" Film Festival will show artists how to get their work seen and positively affect everyone that comes into contact with their creations.
