Album Notes

Transcend Reflect Open Yield

“ A potential visionary rather than just another self-reflective tunesmith.”

Although failing to enlighten his parents with an hour-long a’capella recording at age ten…Troy Michael Petty has found, musically embedded in his soul, a reason to sing.
Now a stalwart on the Chicago local music scene, Troy has manifested a musical palette
symbolic of his astrological sign: Gemini, showcasing his overall sound through both an ‘electric’ and ‘acoustic’ foundation.
“ I come in whichever form the music/song requires” TMP

Drummer Jay Will and bassist/pianist Joseph L’Amour blend coherently into what has become troy’s standard three piece act. Generally labeled Alternative/Indie/Rock/Pop, troy’s minimalist approach refines each song drawing you further amongst different sub-genres. Painting pictures of isolation, love and the struggles of the human spirit, troy evinces a strong emotional quality and sense of honesty that is not so often found in mainstream arenas.

“Armed with a voice supplied by angels and some liquid guitar lines, Troy weaves a deft, introspective spell. “

Since 2000, troy has remained active on the road, in their hometown releasing a pair of full-length albums and gaining credits in a few indie films including a music video. “Every accomplishment leads you to another challenge, if it’s what you love to do, it’s what you get used to…and ultimately you find your own definition of success.” TMP

powerful, artistic, poetic

the band/artist TROY is a breath of fresh air. i own both album's "so the past shall pass" and "gemini". after having "past" in my regular rotation for over 2 years now, i was anticipating the new album's release. "gemini" is awesome! you get two cd's for the price of one... an acoustic and an electric. very nice surprise!!! beautiful songwritting that's consistently strong both lyrically and musically. powerful, dynamic vocals. musically driving rhythms - from troy's acoustic ballads to their heavy electric tunes... beautiful, unique guitar sounds and very full, complementing bass lines. "gemini" can take you from reflective & day-dreamy to feeling inspired and empowered. i can't say enough about this artist. you get lost in the melodic tunes... but don't forget to pull the jacket out of the case and read along.... very impressive, simply poetic.

We need more intelligent bands like Troy. This album is really something else! I can not wait until their new album Gemini comes out. Troy is a very cool guy and has a great singing voice, and the sometimes eerie melody of the musicians flow together greatly!
