BIOGRAPHY: TRUDY JANE
Imagine being entertained by a singer/songwriter who can charm an audience to dance the night away while delivering lyrics that touch emotional chords. Trudy Jane conjures up these feelings for listeners young and old with a brand of music that crosses boundaries.
Trudy Jane's musical roots came from her parents who played and sang with melodic harmony that she grew to love. She was raised in a small dirt road town in Quebec, Canada. She began to sing at age six and continued over the years developing a style all her own.
When it comes to promoting songwriters, Trudy Jane is a natural. Her efforts in founding and operating The Okanagan Songwriters Showcase, based in Kelowna, have resulted in 136 shows featuring over 500 artists. As an artist promoter, her showcases have graced Kelowna Parks Alive, Fat Cat Children's Festival, the Okanagan Regatta, a wide variety of live venues throughout the Okanagan, and numerous radio and T.V. stations.
In addition, Trudy Jane spent 18 months working with Sandy Dunkley and the BC Songwriters Association, hosting the Burnaby showcase. She has hosted and presented songwriting and business workshops and seminars featuring: John Smith (formerly of Apple Records, having worked with the Beatles, Pink Floyd and David Bowie), Don Osborne (Vancouver based music business development consultant), Ron Irving (internationally known songwriter), Jan Cooper (vocal coach) who worked with Trudy Jane.
As a writer and performer, Trudy Jane has performed at some of the biggest country venues in Western Canada.
She shared the stage with some of Canada's finest performers, including Farmer's Daughter, the Cruzeros, Valdy, Ron Irving and more. People see Trudy as outgoing, energy packed, vivacious, friendly, positive, professional and talented.
Her debut CD "Loving & Leavin'" just released (January/05) was produced by Barry Mathers and engineered by Curtis Tullman of the "Cruzeros". They perform on it with co-Cruzeros Jim "Pa" Ryan. Other featured artists are Scott Thielmann - lead & rhythm guitar, Jay Terrance - drums, Susan Aylard - fiddle, Rachel Matkin - backup vocals, Roger Gabriel duet on "Loving You Forever" and Mike Daly - pedal steel.
The album encompasses a wide range of country music genres including New Country, Americana, traditional country and contemporary. It is receiving radio airplay in 17 countries in Europe plus Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Argentina, Canada and the United States.

Lovin and leavin
author: Sue WeldonI am proud to own one of the first burned copies of this cd. I am a violinist and can really appreciate the lilting quality of these songs. I am impressed by the depth of emotions so understood by particularly females as they are going through these hard times. The clarity and heartfelt emotions shines through like a long lost friend. Keep up the awesome writing!
"I like you,too - Trudy Jane" - A very enjoyable album with a good country sound
author: R.H Larsen - Editor - WBTS radio - Your gateway to the AmericanI do agree with my sisterstation at live365.com, that "No News Of You" are the one song that catch ones ear on the first run. But, we over here in the Land of the Midnight Sun do normally not serve us self with just slice of a cake when we like it - or are silent if we enjoy ourself - we make a big bang ! - and push Trudy Jane with 3 songs in our presentation !
Lots of great radio friendly and honky tonk friendly tracks
author: Sloane Pigg - Country Girls Only - Live365.comGreat CD! Trudy has a great voice. We're adding "No News Of You" first. Will follow up with "Hook Line" or "Show and Tell".
Moody, Joyous, reflective, and a little bruising, isn't love grand?
author: George Peden (Australia)...Trudy Jane has simplicity with a truthful ring nailed on her debut, Loving & Leavin'...while the tell-tale titles headline emotional honesty, the overall package is anything but awkward. Trudy Jane is attractive, the band's weighty, and the guilt-edged tunes come flavored with enough crossover appeal to stir interest... adaptable moods and styles are the rewards.
Love it.
author: Cor LahnsteinWhat a great voice, fine songs and marvelous band. Also the inlays and pictures are surprising! Love it. Congratulations again with your great album. (Cor Lahnstein, formerly of Roots magazine, Holland)

Catchy, smooth, slick and sweet!
author: Trance BlackmanI find this compilation very easy to listen to, beginning to end. You can tell special care was taking in production to give it that little extra something that makes a good CD come together. Great songwriting, performance, and delivery. Rock on, Trudy!

...a pretty intriguing album. Trudy Jane delivers her music with plenty of sass and a rare mix of traditional country (think Loretta Lynn) and a mordern day Mavericks sound....The album...opens with a neat country/rocker in Hook Line, and proceeds directly into a honky tonk flavored Pick Up The Phone, and then directly into a country hurtin'tune in I Let You Win Again-the variety of song styles is what helps make this a more than interesting album. Listen also for winners in the two step Show And Tell, which comes complete with some strong fiddle work;and Loving You Forever,a tune that has a poco/Pure Prairie League feel to it.Quite unique for a female artist. Also unique is See You Again which is done with an Orbisonesque arrangement and vocal delivery, again not something you often hear from a female singer.
"There's not a dud in the bunch"
author: Bill Wence - Nolensville TennesseeI think there's lots of singles on this album. I really like "Hook Line", but "I Let You Win Again" has a good feel to it too. "Tender Love" is one of my favorites too. "Show and Tell" could work too and of course "No News of You" is very strong.... I guess the truth is, there's not a dud in the bunch
