True Identity(formally known as New Breed) is band that was created with a vision of self-search, combining the energy of hardcore with the drive of metal guitars and the rhythms of urban crossover. Musical influences range from ny hardcore and new school hardcore to punk, modern metal and various other forms of alternative rock.
The band started in 1993, being one of the first european bands to play music that crosses the boundaries of subcultures and narrow musical definitions. Death of original guitarist meant the line-up had to change, which created a music more focused on the rhythmic elements and less on the guitar riffs. Regular touring of (mainly) club circuit started in 1997, which helped the band to promote the music further and develop a recognizable, high-energy live performance. While the line-up kept changing from time to time, the original singer Heni and former bass player - later guitar player Kris are still the driving force of True Identity.
Aside from music, what always separated True Identity from other bands were the lyrics which departed from the usual cliches of hardcore and metal music. The band continuously used their lyrics to question the truths which condition the human mind in a society based on greed, while keeping the form approachable to most listeners.
True Identity strives further to find its own place in the music world defined by mainstream adherence to a particular genre and continue to combine high-energy crossover music with self-searching lyrics...

the band rocks, OH YEAHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Yes, music this band creates is enlightning and mood-oriented. There is something for everybody; truly! The music they produce is inspiring for all ages and its made in a way everybody can relate to. Songs can be very deep and sofisticated, yet they can take far away - trip to your inner-self. Enjoy, because True Identity is really good record!

Nice surprise from these Slovenians

was nicely surpised when I first heard an old demo of these guys back in the 90s. At that time not much was happening in europe in terms of mixing metal and hardcore and whatever there was, was a lousy version of rage against the machine with a lot of horrible rapping.
To the point. Finally getting my hands on this album I was quite pleasantly surprised. I would disagree with the other reviewer about the production value. We've heard more "garage" production in albums that became classics (like earth crisis' "firestorm" e.p.)...
While the guitars sound a bit rough, it's not that far from the current mainstream.
my fav. 3 songs:
"drown" - the most mainstream of the songs, has an almost deftones feel to it, but less dreaminess...
"addicted" - combination of punk rock and metal crossover...
"undying" - my fav. song - sort of biohazard meets earth crisis
