Album Notes

"True Stories kicks out infectious hard-charging folk rock driven by revved up guitars and the pure joy of rocking and rolling." Jim Beal Jr. - San Antonio Express-News
Their debut album, Estilo San Antonio, contains 13 original songs about love, loss, local heroes, muscle cars, and Saturday night.
Singer/songwriter David Rodriguez evokes images that are distinctive yet universal.
Gil Polanco (drums and percussion) and bassist Andreas Laven lay down a rock solid foundation on which Ray Symzcyk ( guitar and accordion) and S. A. bluesman Eddie Polanco (guitar and harmonica) ply their trade.

Top-flight musicianship, cool words, local flavor and the right amount of rock '
author: Jim Beal Jr. San Antonio Express-News
True Stories serves up a jangling-guitar brand of folk-tinged rock that would likely work almost anywhere but nonetheless bears a distinctive San Antonio stamp. So True Stories meant it when they called the CD ``Estilo San Antonio (San Antonio Style).'' David Rodriguez penned all the tunes; Eric Hisaw produced the disc. Rodriguez is able to pull together images that are distinctive yet universal. On ``Fool for Love,'' the accordion and guitars share space well while Rodriguez sings of dealing with the devil and Jesus on the same night. ``Little Johnny's New Shoes,'' a tribute to local musician/scene maker Little Johnny Garza, is destined to be a San Antonio classic. No CD called ``Estilo San Antonio'' would be complete without a car song (``Oldsmobile 4-4-2''). And ``Puro Pinche Party,'' with its song and band name checks, will get more than a few requests. True Stories pulls together experience, top-flight musicianship, cool words, local flavor and the right amount of rock 'n' roll attitude for a package that is, indeed, ``Estilo San Antonio.''
