Album Notes

The idea behind this album began as a simple desire to create the music that I enjoy listening to. The instrumentation is 3 trumpets, 2 trombones, 3 saxes, piano, bass, drums, and Latin percussion. The hardest part I've had is trying to define the style of music. Obviously, it's going to sound like a small big band, we can't avoid that, but what I hoped to create is some music that is more pop oriented - big band with more of an urban sound. The music crosses many genres like swing, funk, latin, rock, fusion...and others.

Imagine what the music sound like if Sting, Pat Metheny, The Brecker Brothers, and Arturo Sandoval got together to write music. I realize this is a wild mix, but that's the point. The music is diverse and at times difficult to identify a genre, but the sound of the big band pulls it all together. There will be tracks that will appeal to a wide audience and some that appeal only to a select few, but I wanted to create something diverse, entertaining, and exciting to listen to.

I hope you enjoy this music!
