REVIEWS

Interesting.....I suppose

I think it's important to remember the "spirit" of any album......."what was the feel the musician was attempting to develop in this project?" - I personally believe this to be a valuable question to ask and answer. This album is a collection of improvised piano solos. Musically, they are EXTREMELY INTERESTING. They have a flawless blend between twangy old ragtime and modern improv jazz............I love the fusion of different genres.....and this pianist accomplished that flawlessly. Production-wise, however, the are some irritants: the mic is too close to the piano......you can hear the hammers clicking and ticking to such a degree that it becomes distracting. There're just a'lot of squeaks and clicks and extraneous noises that are annoying, although I'm not obsessed with modern over-produced projects. This was a good buy.....not at the top of my list, but an OK project.
