TTJ (Trouble Tribe Japan) didn't come up with their name, they earned it! One mishap after another has branded this band as one of the funniest, trouble prone bands in the Eastern hemisphere. As you get to know them, you'll understand why! Above all hoopla however, the music still appeals to all generations of rock 'n' roll.
Based in Osaka Japan, TTJ boasts an international lineup of two supreme Japanese guitar players, a rogue Irish singer and a slamming American drummer. These various backgrounds of cultures and influences create a unique blend of rock that magazines and DJ's have defined as, "70's, 80's, 90's, 00's and beyond", "fresh but nostalgic"," magical" and "music with and impact - they kick their own butts!"
Formed in the year 2000, TTJ has marked several accomplishments. As an unsigned band, they were featured guests on FM radio stations such as FM CoCoLo Fm Osaka, FM Wai Wai, and Kiss FM. Enjoying radio airplay from their demos, the band also landed three tracks on comedy movie soundtrack "Maido!" In 2004 the band clinched their first record deal on Onkyo's label Premium Stones, triggering a lot more media attention.
Among the media's attention is the production of TTJ's first music video. The song in the clip is a rearrangement of Godaigo's 1978 hit Monkey Magic. Thanks to many requests, this unique arrangement has enjoyed considerable rotation on Sky Perfect TV and various stations since its release this year. In addition, songs like Rock 'N' Roll Crazy and Broken Promises have reached the airwaves in other countries such as Brazil, Poland, the UK and the United States. Domestically, Man In Black is currently the opening theme song for FM CoCoLo's Premium Hits show and has also been popular on NHK radio.
Although the band has finally nailed down a good album and video, one will never feel the full impact of TTJ unless he or she sees them play live. The band is constantly pumping every kind of concert hall, small bar, festival, and party they can find all over Japan. In order to find out why they are more than just a trouble prone band from Osaka, one only has to show up at the show. Only then he or she can find out why "they kick their own butts!"

Hear a wall of sound
author: Young Guitar
If you ever wondered what a raw, wall of sound sounds like, check out track 4 called "Broken Promises." You'll be blown away. I went to see this band live in Tokyo and couldn't believe that they could duplicate this sound live! Seven-string guitars and six-string bass do the trick! This is the essence of modern sound but still has a classic vibe to it.
