Lantern in a Poet's Garden songs are made of music written to poems. Terry Tucker says, "These poems went straight to my heart and I went straight to the piano. My friend Jim Surkamp brought these poems to me and I stayed up all night and wrote seven songs. The other songs came soon after." The poets are Danske Dandridge, 1854-1914, Shepherdstown, Jefferson County, WV and her cousin from the same county and the same era, Daniel Bedinger Lucas.
Terry's minimal orchestration adds more texture and colors to this poem painting. " I am honored to have playing with me on this CD Ralph Gordon, cello and bass, Ardyth Gilbertson, harmony vocals and lead on Dreams, Betty Jo Rockwell, flute, Sharon Hall, violin, Kelly Cornelius, djembe, Greg Small, trumpet, Brian Ellsworth, French horn and Cam Millar, trombone."

Terry Tucker's Lantern in a Poet's Garden

The sounds, the poet's lyrics, and Terry's heartfullness are all three drenchingly lyrical and wrapping and cross-timefully epic~!! Bravo!!!! The poet, Danske Dandridge's, "collaboration" has pulled out of Terry sounds of complete blessing and that match the richly lamplit, cascading, prodigiously flowering foxglove on the cover! A tapestry of soul-water; cradling for all time. (Terry, tell me what this really is besides foxglove...and I'll edit here...ha! Thank you for your glorious album! and your evening of mixing musically with your audience~xoxo)
