Album Notes

Nicholas “Tun” Jones, 22, was born and raised in Peoria, IL; and at the age of 16 moved with his family to Indianapolis, IN. Nicholas “Tun”Jones; started rapping at the age of 11 years old. His older brother Patrick “Pick” Bush was heavily influenced by West Coast rappers like 2Pac, Ice Cube, Yukmouth, C-Bo, and Too Short which sparked Tun’s interest in hip-hop. Tun first started writing lyrics and his talent for freestyling came later. Tun spent hours everyday writing lyrics until he felt he had mastered his style. Tun’s musical inspirations are Biggie, 2Pac, Big L, Scarface, and 8Ball & MJG to name a few. The name “Tun” originally came from the name “Shorty Half Tun”, a name his brother Patrick “Pick” Bush gave him as a child. Nicholas feels that the name “Tun” is a masterful fit, “My name represents my life and writing styles as I am large and in charge.”

Tun views his style as a mix of East, West, and Midwest. “My lyrical content is straight to the point.” “Everything I talk about is real; I’m no studio gangsta.” “I’m still in the streets trying to find a way out other than robbery or moving weight so I chose rap.” “Ever since I wrote the first verse to my first freestyle, I knew that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.” “I’m dedicated to my music; it reflects my life…things I’ve seen, things I’ve been through, and things I’m going through.”

Tun’s main priority is to make life comfortable for his family. He wants to see his nephews grow up in a better environment than he has. “I’m not knockin’ the streets ‘cause I’ve learned a lot from it, but I don’t want my nephews or little cousins to go through the same things I did.”

Tun is a solo artist but has been in such groups as The B. A. Click, and Thug Mafi. He has performed in local shows in various arenas in the Indianapolis area as well as at the Players Ball in Bowling Green, KY.

When asked what mark he wants to make in hip-hop, Tun’s answer… “I want to take it back to where it used to be the real thing.” He wants to put an end to the fad phases that hip-hop has taken lately. He appreciates his fans and wants them to know he’s doing this for them and the hood. “I know I have what it takes to make it to the top…I’m at the bottom and there’s nowhere to go but up.” “I want everyone to know that I plan to be a problem for any playas weak in the game.” When asked what he wants people to know about him, he smirked and said “I’m the best thing since sliced bread.”
