Album Notes

Fourth album. Compositions from improvisations from compositions. It all started with three albums and four cds of sonic ingredients. Hand picked at the pharmer's market. Sifting through baskets and bins. Put into a pot and boiled for 1000 miles of frozen asphalt. Boiled down to nothing. The pot scraped and squandered. Whats left is nothing more than a stain, what was left behind. Boiled down into one well balanced meal. The body needs sustenance. The brain skitters about after all those miles. The stomach starts to eat itself for a means of survival. Turning ever inward. This is the inside. This is what you need. No fat. Just the essentials. Chopped, trimmed, and hacked. The process is brutal. The rewards are catastrophic.

A Classic of the Genre
author: CHINASKI
Tungsten74 plays some of the most fascinating instrumental music being made today. Unlike many of the shoegazer bands, Tungsten74 songs are diverse and often leave melodies and structures exposed for the listener to hear. The inventive songwriting, effective emotional vocabulary, clever use of sampled voices, and visionary pacing make Binaurally Yours an instant classic of the genre.

A gorgeous brain bath, a passionately ambient, watery expanse for the ears, Tungsten74 is back with their pretty, slow, sad mix of electronically-geared rock. Reminiscent of Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Ros and tripped out with spacey, warbling, echoing sonicism, complemented by other songs that dip into a funky, driving, 70's vibe, their feel for a distinct musical universe of its own, a distinctive atmosphere and context is superb. This definitely fits into any "headphone music" collection. Balancing a cyclical, looping, minimalistic structure with rock song structures and developing ideas, "Binaurally Yours" is an album that you won't soon forget.
