EVERY DAY’S MY LUCKY DAY – NOTES

This Los Angeles native is a prolific songwriter and a righteous multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, bandleader and arranger who has recorded with R.L. Burnside, Charlie Musselwhite, Richard Thompson, Kid Ramos, Janiva Magness, Doug MacLeod and many similar artists. His songs have been recorded by James Harman, Gary Primich, Janiva Magness, and Saffire, among others.
“Every Day’s My Lucky Day” is Jeff’s first solo release. It features 14 tracks, all original songs, in Blues and Orleans- style settings. Jeff sings about great big slobs, sad clowns, dogs that everybody hates (except its owner), losers and shipwrecks. Grooves vary from wild jump swing to cool shuffles to funky 2-beats. And despite the song titles, this record doesn’t take itself very seriously.
Guest artists include Rick Holmstrom, Janiva Magness and Juke Logan.
Jeff’s had lots of experience in these styles of music. He’s played blues and roots around Southern California for 25 years and has toured with James Harman and Canned Heat. He plays guitar (and is a mean slide player), saxophones, basses, and whatever else is around. His diverse influences include Jimmy Reed, Howlin’ Wolf, Percy Mayfield, Pee Wee Russell, Tom Waits, Elmore James, Charlie Rich, Thelonious Monk… et cetera.
Jeff continues to write and record distinctive music and to work in the nightclubs and studios of Southern California.
