Album Notes

TV Yellow emerged from their days at Ohio University (Athens) where they performed for three years as the primarily cover band Kid Charlemagne.

They released a self-produced KC CD in 1997 and drew the interest of the indie Smokehouse Records label.

The band stands today as the same KC lineup, but with a much more focused writing style that can only be described as neo-classic Rock.

All five members, now with over five years together, have together taken their reverence for classic rock in a new direction.

With influences as diverse as Kiss, Jackson Browne, Eagles, Blues Traveler, Al Green and Otis Redding, this band will put you through some paces with songs from Reduction such as "Pearl", "Change My Point of View", and the very tasty "Lately".

Now based out of the greater Cincinnati area, the band is broadening their territory and concentrating on taking their show on the road.

What a great CD!!! These guys know how to rock. Every song here is top notch. Some bands put all their strong songs first & put the weak sons last. There is absolutely NO weak songs here. Even the last song on this CD, a cover of Three Dog Night's "Never Been To Spain" is an A-1 song. If you like your music catchy & well written, then buy this CD!!!

Rock-n-Roll made to be played loud!!!

From opening track CHANGE to the killer cover of SPAIN that rounds out the album, TV Yellow's Reduction delivers a sound that sends shivers up your spine and blows the jam out-your-toes. Standout tracks PEARL and SUNFLOWER never loose their lust, getting better with every listen. And TAKE A WALK is the perfect fall sunnyday Sunday drive cut. In today's cluttered sea of boybands, hip-hop, and Days of the Third Eye 182 bands, it is reassuring to know that bands such as TV Yellow will continue to create albums such as Reduction, needed to save Rocky McRoll.

TV Yellow acknowledges Rock's classic, groovy elements with reverence

The bands first release for the Smokehouse label, REDUCTION, shows TV Yellow to be an airtight straightforward and talented Rock & Roll outfit. With roots in the classics, the band flaunts sassy, soulful vocals and a near bluesy strut. Perhaps most impressive is their solid handle on groove---nearly all the songs incorporate super hooky guitar riffs, and you can really tell that each of the players is locked in tight on the rhythm. Like the Black Crowes, the group understands the Zeppelin-originated ideaology of "the Riff" as a song's cornerstone, and TV Yellow can more than capably pull it off.
