Not since the legendary sounds of Philadelphia and Detroit has a female singer captured the soulful sounds of music like Tamika. Born and raised in the Bay Area, it wasn't until after she finished college that she began to develop her gift as a vocalist. After relocating from Sacramento, California, Tamika began her journey into the music
industry.
Tamika has worked with some of the best R & B and Jazz musicians in the Bay Area. She has worked with Dr. Dee Spencer, Ben Flint, Jamie Hawkins, and many others. Equally adept at Straight Ahead Jazz and R & B styles, Tamika pushes the limits of both musical genres and brings a higher consciousness to the experience of music.
Tamika has headlined venues all over the Bay Area including Club Jazz Nouveau, Pete Escovedo's Latin Jazz Club, and Rassela's. She has also performed at the City of San Leandro 2004 Cherry Festival, the 2004 Bay Area Juneteenth Festival in San Jose, and The Oakland City Center Concert Series. Tamika has also performed for the National Council of Negro Women and the San Francisco Chapter of National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). Tamika was also featured on Bay Area Vista on NBC 11 in 2003.
In addition to being an energetic and thoughtful performer, Tamika also released an independent commercial project entitled "My Message". She and noted R & B Producer Jimi Fischer wrote all of the material for this project "My Message" contains a smooth blend of Jazz, Classic R & B, and Funk that adult audiences can easily embrace. Tamika is currently performing all over the San Francisco Bay Area. She is also working on her first Full-Length CD to be released in 2005.
***Reviews***
"There are some tight ass harmonies in CC Brown and there's a beautiful lilting guitar in "Why Don't You Believe" inviting the listener in. You have our attention Ms. Clark, where are you going to take us?"
Muse's Muse
"Driven by a bass groove that brings to mind Rose Royce's "You're a Winner", the opening "Chocolate Caramel Brown" is one funky gem of a song. The vocals dramatize the lyrics most effectively, touching on lust, anxiety and a sort of old-fashioned pride that suggests Sonia Sanchez or Amina Baraka poems put to song".
Splendid
"All together this is a varied showcase of jazzy flavoured contemporary R'n'B which hopefully will be the stepping stone to greater things. All of the tracks have something to commend and they build everytime you listen to them."

This CD - especially the tracks Chocolate Caramel Brown and My Message - gets into your heart, and then will not leave your head. After listening to the CD a few times, I could not stop singing Chocolate Caramel Brown for a week! Tamika has a sound that is so rich, and the vocals are produced so seamlessly, the music on this CD is a delight and an ongoing discovery of emotion and musical layering.

This packs more into its 5 tracks than some major artists can manage in pretty much an entire career. That's maybe hard on some, but it makes me mad that talent like this should get comparatively so little Xposure. Clearly the breaks ain't always given where they're deserved. Hope to see this lady take off big-style.
