Album Notes

Twelvehourmary has been one of the centerpieces of live music in Long Beach, California for years and now they have finally put together an album of rock songs that capture the depth and character of a band that has paid its dues and come into its own. 1 part classic rock, 1 part modern rock, and 1 part thought blender, their sound is that unusual mix of the unique and familiar - chord changes that will make you aware of the hair on your arms, melodies you will sing during the day, and lyrics that will make you think in the middle of the night. This band is a listen for yourself proposition.

What the critics have to say:

"Twelvehourmary is one of those rare bands that have a sound all of their own. Brett Bixby's thought provoking lyrics and melodic vocals mixed with Mark Romans intricate drum beats, Stu Richardson's multi-textured guitar leads and Bill Lanham's powerful basslines create an exciting sound that rocks but at the same time has a cerebral and progressive feel to it."

Another winner from 12 Hour Mary !

Keep in mind as you read this that I may be a bit outside the band's main target audience: I'm pushing 50 and have your typical corporate job. That said, I've been a fan of this band since I first saw them perform at the now-defunct Jillian's in Long Beach, CA. They were great then and this latest release just reinforces what I learned at that show. Their's is the kind of music that you can easily lose yourself in, getting mentally and emotionally carried along with it. The lyrics you find in each of the songs here are thoughtful and creative, and paint a picture that is easily seen in the mind's eye. The musicianship is as sharp as ever, and the sound is not -- thankfully -- overproduced, a common failing among local or unsigned bands with studio access. This CD goes with me everywhere.

Masterfully Crafted

This CD is masterfully crafted. From a production standpoint, it is perfect. The playing is very tight, and each instrument sits comfortably with the others. It is the song writing, however, that shines here. Each song has a little surprise, a clever musical twist or turn, an unexpected rhythmic or melodic phrase. The lyrics are at times overtly clever, shockingly honest, and sometimes both. The album, as a whole, maintains a cohesiveness yet provides the occasional diversion from the wall of guitars with an acoustic guitar here, or a piano there. I'm sure that repeated listenings, and some time with the lyrics, will make Blowing Over a rich source of enjoyment.

Fantastic debut album! Longawaited, but worth the wait.

I had heard the track Simultaneous on a compilation CD a few years back and have been craving more of their music. This album is well worth the wait. Thought provocating lyrics and a hard-rocking beat on every song. I would highly recommend this CD to everyone.
