Album Notes

twice came together in April of 1999. Since then they have dealt with the ups and downs of their local music scene, line up changes, and the trials of an independent band making a name for them selves. Through all this adversity twice has not given up. The band continues to write and perform brilliant and unique metal/hard-core music in the stagnant, and prepackaged world of hard rock. In a sea of sound-a-likes, twice sticks out like a sore thumb, demanding their individuality.

The bands influences are as diverse as it's members, ranging from 80's metal bands like Testament, and Anthrax (both of which twice has shared the stage with), to modern rock groups like Vision of Disorder, and Helmet. This is just the tip of the iceberg for twice. The band pulls influence from all the things around them. Real life lyrical content combined with emotional and powerful musicianship weave a complete new sound. Driving grooves, intense rhythms, complex time changes, and powerful vocals, come together to create a dangerous and brutal musical experience.

To date the band has recorded three EP's. Less Than Before, in 2000, Within the Silence, in 2001 and Somethings Can't be Taken Back in 2002. The sales of the first two EP's exceeded the bands expectations, selling almost 1000 copies of home burned CD's with hand made covers. The third EP hit shelves February 21st 2003 and expectations are high. The reactions to the new material have been amazing.

twice has shared the stage with an impressive array of touring bands. Opening for such national acts as, Testament, Anthrax, Dillinger Escape Plan, Spine Shank, Danzig, Drowningman, Converge, Since by Man, Curl Up & Die and the list goes on and on. Twice is one of the hardest working unsigned bands to ever hit the stage. Raw energy, powerful physical performance, and emotional drive with enough volume to leave you wondering what you just experienced.

Wow

All that must be said is that this Cd is more metal than a steel factory. Unique blends of music from straight up rip your head off metal to doom metal to punk to jazz, Somethings Can't Be Taken back is definately Twice's most diverse work to date. Tracks such as "Inchworm" blends the heaviness and upfrontness of hardcore and metal with the complex time and syncapated rhythms of jazz. Not only does this album have brilliant music, but incredible lyricism. The heart wrenching anger expressed through "...And I Know" was incredibly captured in words. Please do check into this album. One of my favorites of all time.
