Album Notes

Recorded live, March 21, 2007, at the gorgeous Pala Casino & Resort (www.palacasino.com) on the Grand Caberet Stage. Pala Casino is East of Oceanside, CA, on Hwy 76.

Twice As Good, the legendary, House-Rockin', Native American, Son/Father duo from Northern CA traveled down South to do the "Boogie" in Pala for the wonderful audience and fans. This blazing set is packed full of those sweet blazing solos by Paul Steward and some groovin' beats by the rock solid band, Bryce "Big Slice" Hodge on drums, Chris "Baba" Hoke on Bass, and Rich Steward on Rhythm Guitar, Paul's father and partner in crime!

They go deep into the Jumpin blues of a Joe Louis Walker inspired "T-Bone Shuffle", get funky with B.B. King's "Bad Case of Love", then Paul Breaks out his Harmonica skill's on Little Walter's first recording "I Just Keep Loving Her" (you can also hear Paul's admiration of James "Super Harp" Cotton). Then Twice As Good revives the rare blues by Albert King "Don't Throw Your Love On Me So Strong" and Paul puts some serious shoutin' on it. "Send You Back to Georgia" is a mean boogie inspired from a line of great Boogie-Blues men, written by Hound Dog Taylor and also covered by Magic Slim.

Then the band drifts into some classic pop tunes with the #1 hit from 1959, Santo & Johnny's "Sleepwalk". They come back swinging with Big Joe Turner's "Flip Flop & Fly", a band favorite. The Wilson Pickett standard "Mustang Sally" gets everyone on the dancefloor shakin' those hips, then the band really gets them bouncing with "Old Time Rock & Roll", the Bob Seger ode to the music that started it all. Paul wraps things up with his action packed cover of "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry, a guitar player standard and a great show piece, complete with kicks and duck walks.
