Spicing up these carols by arranging them in a bluegrass style with a touch of ragtime and Dixieland spunk, The Tony Williamson Trio delights in the harmonies of mandolin, upright bass and guitar. With a wink, they present some less-heard numbers such as an instrumental version of the Chipmunk Song (“Christmas Don’t Be Late”) and a playful, “Reindeer Rag.” Throwing in some blues licks here and there and taking advantage of each musician’s skill by opening up the space for individual solos, Winter Wonderland will keep you shuffling along on your holiday business but with greater ease and lightness.
