This was our first album, written and recorded primarily in wintery and overcast Seattle over several years - the mood is somber and reflective. Our later albums -- Looking for Landmrarks and Nine Lucid Dreams -- are more poppy and at times, even sunny.
Although stylistically diverse -- ranging from pop, trip-hop, rock, jazz and drum n' bass -- there is a distinct and consistent essence that is immediately identifiable as "the Two Loons for Tea sound": sensuous, moody, cinematic, and emotionally compelling. We've been told by many people that once they've heard our music, it becomes a soundtrack for that time in their life.
Two Loons for Tea is Sarah Scott (vocals & songwriting) and Jonathan Kochmer (guitars, effects, songwriting & production), with many guest artists.

A sensual, moody and cinematic album with exquisite female vocals and lush multilayered music ranging from trip-hop to pop to jazz. Features guest performances by members of King Crimson, Critters Buggin, Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians. This is an album of tremendous intelligence and range.

Heavenly

I have been utterly obsessing over this album--it is a wonderful combination of jazz, pop, trip hop, electronica, atmospheric guitar, and great raspy/rich vocals, a mix of smoothness with liveliness. It has a flowing, yet energetic sound. And of course the great guitar and vocals.
Heavenly.

Best CD of it's type I've heard this year.

I've been following Two Loons on mp3.com for awhile. It's nice to see a band from mp3 take off. The CD is exactly as the band said. Much warmer on disk than online. They have a very lush sound that is reminicent of bands from 4AD. Good use of textures and layered sounds make this a great CD to listen to on a breezy late night driving by a lake as the moon reflects off its surface. It's hard not to put tranquil pictures to their music. Best CD of it's music type I've heard this year.
